The Centro di Ricerca per le Scienze applicate alla Protezione dell’Ambiente e dei Beni Culturali (Research Center for Sciences applied to the Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage) of the "Sapienza" University is an integrated network of skills and services whose mission is the development and promotion of research and innovation in the field of environment preservation and of cultural heritage protection.
The activities of the CIABC are structured according to the following directives:
- Development of collaboration networks characterized by the continuous exchange of skills and technologies. The Centre has internal expertise for the development of innovative systems and methods dedicated to the conservation of the environment and cultural heritage.
- Promotion of the development of scientific activities and research that are applicable to the technological advancement interests of SMEs.
- Promotion of cooperation between the centre itself (through its activities and skills) and national and international institutions that operate in the field of environmental protection and cultural heritage.
- Promotion of initiatives aimed at the redevelopment of the environment, the valorisation of sites of archaeological interest (outdoors), structures dedicated to the protection of indoor cultural heritage (museums and exhibition spaces)
The Center makes skills available that would otherwise be difficult to access, through the sharing of innovation projects and professional figures equipped with theoretical knowledge and significant complementary experiences.
The Center brings together 33 professors and researchers from 6 Departments (Environmental Biology, "Charles Darwin" Biology and Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, SBAI-Basic and Applied Sciences for Engineering, Earth Sciences).
